Singing sensations Abhijit Sawant and Prajakta Sukre’s night out at a Juhu restaurant on Tuesday night turned out to be a nightmare when Prajakta and Abhijit bet a race and unable to control her car, Prajaktta hit two persons on motorcycle.
According to reports, the Indian Idol contestant Prajakta was driving her Honda City and Indian Idol winner was driving an Audi. On seeing an empty road in Daulat Nagar area of Sanatcruz, a western suburb of Mumbai, the couple decided to race their cars. As ill luck would have stuck, the female singer lost the control of her car and ended up smashing two teenagers on a motorcycle.
Mumbaikars immediately crowded the place and charged Prajakta. Abhijit came out in rescue of Sukre and got into a tiff with the crowd. Following the quarrel, Abhijit got a good thrash from the public.
A police officer confirmed, "On their way back from Juhu, they spotted an empty lane and decided to race for fun. We are waiting for the medical reports after which we will arrest Shukre. The victims are out of danger and are recovering."
Prajakta was arrested for rash and negligent driving and then released on a bail of Rs 3000.
Police doubts that Abhijit and his group are in drunken condition, hence investigation is on.
