Women would make this world a better place if they watched more sports. Not just watching sports, but embracing sports, the same way you would embrace wearing new pair of shoes out clubbing. There I said it.
Sports encompass all the major qualities that are appealing to men: Competitiveness, Tribalism, physical violence (for the most part). We as men devote a good portion of our lives to watching, analysing and discussing sports. Not a day goes by that I won’t bring up a comment to a fellow co-worker, or plan my evening around something sports related. Now I know some will be rolling their eyes “But Wally, not all guys like sports!!” and this is true. Many guys are into music, which is why you’ll find a lot of people end up hooking up at concerts, again because of similar interests
My point is that as a guy, I can almost guarantee I could wear a hockey jersey out this evening and spark up a conversation with a complete male stranger simply because men in general like talking sports. If women followed suit, and took a greater interest in sports, think about the possibilities of meeting new guys. Please don’t half ass the effort either, I remember dating a girl who claimed she was a “basketball fan” but didn’t have a clue which teams were playing in the NBA finals that year. Maybe I’m a sports snob, but at the very least I can appreciate a girl who will sit down and watch a good game of hockey.
There are just so many positives to girls liking sports
For starters, and I’m sure most men will agree. Any girl (as shown in the picture above) who wears sports apparel (t-shirt or jersey) is automatically more attractive. I’m not even a big baseball fan, but I saw this girl at the gym the other day wearing a Boston Red Sox t-shirt and it was an easy conversation starter. Acting like “one of the guys” is always a keeper in our books.
Another positive (which will come in the form of this story) is sports knowledge. I met this cute girl in the bar the other night who happened to be American, (Currently living in Canada). She immediately brought to my attention that she loves Duke University basketball. Once again I’m not even a big fan of NCAA basketball, but she automatically became more attractive to me because of her basketball knowledge and also it was something we could easily talk about. Also as a side note, American girls seem to grasp this concept a lot more than Canadians, sports is a much bigger deal down south, it’s like part of standard culture.
If a guy is dating a girl who likes sports it’s something you can both do together, both watching on TV and going to live. Plus as a guy, any grand jury of friends will automatically embrace the buddies “girlfriend” if she likes sports.
One of the main problems for guys approaching girls or acting nervous most of the time isn’t because the guy is intimidated; it’s because the guy doesn’t know where to lead the conversation because their interests are so diverse. Women always tell guys to just be themselves, well if we’re talking about sports we certainly would be.
To finish off this arcitle I’d like to leave you off with this. WITHOUT googling, which two NHL teams are in the Stanley Cup Finals right now? If you know the answer to this, as the speaker of the male party I must say you’re awesome! Bonus points if you know what the series is at between the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and L.A Lakers.
So ladies will you accept my proposal ?
